Below is a list of the forthcoming re-enactments and live shows that the Devon Medieval Combat Alliance participate in Throughout the year.
Sun 1st June North Devon Hospice Classic Car/Family Fun Day, To be held at Edgehill College the Dmca will be there, along with many other entertainers, too provide an all day presence, including weapons talks, hands on equipment displays, weapon demonstrations and a tournament on foot. Sat 14th- Sun 15th June Tatton Park 10th Anniversary, battle re-enactment and large market held around a restored medieval hall. Welcome to a weekend of Medieval Life. With all the usual meandering medieval folk, traders, and knights it’s sure to be a weekend to remember, for both public and re-enactors. This year we have Bigger, Better, Battle out on the meadow. Sat 12th – Sun 13th July Tewkesbury 25th Anniversary. The re-creation of the battle of Tewkesbury, featuring over 2000 re-enactors, from all over Europe will be the most spectacular ever –all we need to make it perfect is some lovely weather, and of course for you to turn up and enjoy it. Tewkesbury Medieval Festival takes place on fields off Lincoln Green Lane, part of the site of the original battle of Tewkesbury of 1471. Sat 26th - Sun 27th July Berkeley Skirmish Welcome to a weekend of Medieval Life set in the grounds of the beautiful Berkeley Castle. Wander amongst the Living History camps and see up close and personal what it was like to be on tour with a medieval army, shop to your hearts content through the market place, with a wide variety of historic traders selling their wares. Fri 1st – Sat 2nd – Sun 3rd Aug Battle of Camlann, Arthurian battle re-enactment Both Dark Age and Medieval held at Tintagel, in Cornwall, Camlann marks the final battle between King Arthur and Mordred. Whether it is myth, or historical fact, its legend has in no doubt permeated the centuries and become part of British culture. Sat 9th – Sun 10th Aug Bodelwyddan Medieval Festival here in North Wales, where so much history has left a rich legacy of mighty Castles we are pleased to present for you a real Medieval Festival, complete with Medieval Traders and Craftsmen, plus various bands of rough soldiery and noble household retinues on campaign in the long and bloody struggle between England and Wales. With the day culminating in a very nasty and potentially deadly Battle, as the seasoned troops of the various households re-create for your enjoyment and wonder the noise and spectacle of a clash of arms from this violent and colourful period. Sat 25th– Sun 26th– Mon 27th August Herstmonceux Castle, Nestling within the Sussex countryside is a 15th century moated castle - Herstmonceux Castle. It is here, in this truly magical setting, that history comes to life. Held annually since 1992 over August Bank Holiday Weekend, England's Medieval Festival at Herstmonceux Castle is Britain's largest three day celebration of the Middle Ages! CANCELLED : Sat 6th– Sun 7th Sept Caldicot a Re-enactment run by the Early Medieval Alliance, in the grounds of Caldicot Castle, the castle is open to the general public. Founded by the Normans, developed in royal hands as a stronghold in the middle Ages, the castle has a romantic and colourful history. Find out about its past with an audio tour, explore the medieval towers and take in the breath-taking views of the parklands and surrounding area from the battlements. Sat 13th – Sun 14th September Ordsall Hall, the brilliant Tudor House of Ordsall Hall is hidden between the chrome and glass of Salford, Manchester. Help celebrate the placing of the last Sheaf of Corn above the fireplace and raise a Wassail cup to welcome in the Autumn Harvest. Traders, Demos, Archery, Living History and Combat are available for all to see. Dates confirmed the Dmca have not yet decided if it is possible to attend, but keep an eye on this space.
Sat 13th – Sun 14th Sept East Anglian Medieval Fayre, the very popular East Anglian Medieval Fayre is being resurrected in 2008, and we are taking the opportunity to move it from Rougham Airfield to one of East Anglia’s most interesting and historic locations, Cressing Temple the scheduled ancient monument in Essex, UK. The site has its origins in the 12th century, when it was the first grant of land given to the Knights Templar in England. It is home to the two finest Templar barns in Europe. We are really delighted with the line-up of top quality Medieval Re-enactors that we have managed so far to attract to the 2008 East Anglian Medieval Fayre! We are also very pleased to be able to present some excellent and entertaining performers for your enjoyment juggling, welsh story telling and falconry.
